Here are some Books I recommend for those interested in learning more about Herbs;
“Healing Wise” by Susun Weed ISBN 0-9614620-2-7 I enjoy all of her books, see http://www.ashtreepublishing.com/ for a complete list and ordering info.
“Opening our Wild Hearts to the Healing Herbs” by Gail Faith Edwards ISBN 1-888123-01-X
“A City Herbal” by Maida Silverman (available at Ash Tree Publishing)
“The Book of Herbal Wisdom” by Matthew Wood Actually, all his books are outstanding. His approach to herbs is the most comprehensive I've seen anywhere.
“The Peterson field Guide Eastern/Central Medicinal Plants and Herbs” Steven Foster and James A Duke An excellent book to use for identification of plants, note other geographical area guides are available.
“The Peterson Field Guide to Edible Wild Plants” Lee Allen Peterson
“Herbal Therapy and Supplements” Merrily A Kuhn and David Winston ISBN 0-7817-2643-3 Very handy. Has excellent Appendices describing Herb/Drug interactions, contraindications during pregnancy etc.
“Herbal Healing for Women” by Rosemary Gladstar
“The Family Herbal” also by Rosemary (both books available at her website www.sagemountain.com)
Bulk Herb Suppliers
Mountain Rose Herbs- my personal favorite site for ordering bulk herbs.
Red Moon Herbs- Located in Black Mountain NC, not far from me. They offer classes and host the Southeastern Womans Herbal Conference.

Founded in 1991, ASHH is the oldest Herbal School in NC. Run by Ceara Foley and a staff of teachers who are experts in their field. I graduated from the Traditional Herbalist course in the fall of 2007, and I cannot say enough about the quality of teaching and the life changing experiences I had there. I highly recommend it!
