Herb Walks

Come walk for an hour with me at the , Switzerland Cafe located in Little Switzerland at milepost 334 along the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. We'll take a relaxing walk down by the creek and learn the names and characteristics of many herbs common to this area and your own back yard. You'll enjoy the folklore and be entertained by interesting stories and touching examples of how these herbs have changed my life as we walk.

Herb Walks at the Cafe are $5 per person, and are held immediately following the weekly "Ask the Herbalist" sessions, at about 3 pm.

Want a private Herb Walk on your property? Let me show you the treasures that live right outside your door, and how to use them. I'll show you rare herbs that you may not have known you have, and how to use more common herbs you might have thought were just weeds. Fees start at $25 for a one hour walk in McDowell and Mitchell Counties in NC. Contact me to discuss.

Planning a gathering and want to add an Herb Walk? Fees start at $10 per person up to 10 people, pro-rated for larger groups, and negotiable for charity groups, Boy and Girl Scouts, and non-profit groups. Contact me to discuss.

"Ask the Herbalist Day"
Join me for informal discussions and question and answer periods on Tuesday afternoons at 2:00 PM at the Switzerland Cafe located in downtown Little Switzerland, NC.

Have questions about plants growing in your yard? Bring a small piece or a photograph for help with identification, and learn the best uses for it.

Additionally we'll discuss a different plant each week, and you'll take home handouts and recipes. Peruse my "press book", a collection of plants taken from local places and carefully preserved in a notebook.

Ask me general questions about health conditions and learn what herbs might be best to aid in promoting health.

And the best thing about it (besides getting to meet me of course) is; it's FREE!

Immediately following the Herb Talk there will be a Herb Walk behind the Cafe by the creek. There will be a fee of $5 per person for the walk. Please wear sturdy shoes.
